關于電影：

年輕的聯邦調查局官員克拉麗斯·斯達林接受了一項任務：幫助尋找一個失蹤的婦女，而這個婦女正受到一個把受害者的皮剝下來的變態系列殺手的威脅。

　　漢尼伯·萊克特以前是位受人尊敬的精神病醫生，現在卻成精神變態者。克拉麗斯想通過與漢尼伯談話來了解心理變態殺手的扭曲的心靈。聯邦調查局警官杰克·克勞福特認為漢尼伯非常聰明機智，通過與他談話有助于發現案犯。克拉麗斯必須在漢尼伯透露任何情況之前努力贏得他的信任。

　　因《指環王三部曲》而獲得格萊美和奧斯卡獎的電影配樂大師Howard Shore之前似乎更加偏好于為心理驚悚風格的電影配樂，像他的代表作——獲得英國影藝學院最佳電影音樂獎提名作《沉默的羔羊》，（以及《入侵腦細胞》(the Cell)、《赤裸午餐》(Naked Lunch)、《顫栗空間》(Panic Room)、《游戲》(the Game)等等），其中的配樂對于戲劇的張力和心理描寫極具表現力，壓抑的氛圍往往通過音樂中凝重的情感傳遞出來，特別是關于女主角Starling（Jodie Foster）的部分（也是電影配樂的中心），非常的感人。
