科學(xué)家李德·李查茲博士畢生的夢想似乎已經(jīng)觸手可及了，他帶領(lǐng)的團隊乘坐宇宙飛船正在靠近外太空宇宙風(fēng)暴的中心，在那里他將獲得大量的數(shù)據(jù)，破解人類基因遺傳的秘密，并用它來造福整個人類。
　　由于政府無限制地削減預(yù)算，這次飛行幾乎化為泡影，直到李德接受了大學(xué)時代的競爭對手，身為億萬富翁的維克多?文?杜姆博士附有條件的支持之后，他才得以和自己的同伴完成這次飛行計劃。太空飛行一直非常平靜，知道李德發(fā)現(xiàn)自己對宇宙風(fēng)暴速度的計算錯誤，飛船瞬間之內(nèi)被狂暴的宇宙射線吞沒，這些強輻射瞬間改變了隊員的DNA，同時也改變了他們的生活。
　 在隊員們回到地球之后，他們逐漸地發(fā)現(xiàn)自己身體產(chǎn)生的神奇變化：李德的身體可以變成他能想象到的任何形狀，所以被命名為Mr. Fantastic；他的女朋友蘇·史道姆獲得了隱身的能力同時能控制和發(fā)動強大的力場，因此被叫做The Invisible Woman；她的弟弟強尼·史道姆獲得了控制火的能力，能夠用火遮蓋住身體并發(fā)動攻擊，所以被叫做The Human Torch；本·格瑞姆周身肌肉都膨脹成橘紅色的巖石，力大無窮，他的新名字就叫做The Thing。
　　就這樣，四個擁有超人能力的人組合成一個堅強的團隊“神奇4俠”，利用自己的能力幫助遇到困難的人，同時也阻止末日博士邪惡的毀滅世界的計劃，但和其他默默無名的英雄不同，他們在對抗越來越危險的威脅世界和平的陰謀的同時，他們也成為了世界上最著名的超級英雄，這帶給這個超人家庭帶來難以想象的巨大壓力。
