有那么一類樂隊，我們經常稱之為Supergroup，翻譯過來可以叫精英團體。來自加拿大溫哥華的the New Pornographers就是這么一支Supergroup，成員包括Thee Evaporators的John Collins、Destroyer的Dan Bejar、獨立制片人Blaine Thurier和一直在鄉村搖滾領域里混事兒的女主唱Neko Case（其第三張專輯《Blacklisted》是在the Bad Seed幫助下完成的），還有樂隊的主腦以及發起人AC Newman。

The New Pornographers樂隊的主要作曲人Carl Newman說：“我想要縮小Led Zeppelin樂隊和The Fifth Dimension樂隊的差距”。Newman在紐約郊外的一間小木屋里用溫哥華話來錄制《Togther》專輯，期間邀請了一些嘉賓，如在St. Vincent樂隊用吉他獨奏民謠《My Shepherd》的Annie Clark。由于朗朗上口的British Invasion旋律和演唱者Neko Case，《Togther》專輯聽起來仍然有The New Pornographers樂隊的風格。Neko Case在樂隊的幾首歌曲里擔任領唱，包括歌曲《The Crash Years》和《My Shepherd》。Newman說：“她是我們樂隊的秘密武器，我們不可能不用她”。
