《The Voice》的規則與我們熟悉的傳統的歌唱類真人秀《美國偶像》和《The X Factor》存在明顯的區別。四位大腕明星教練：流行天后Christina Aguilera，黑人嘻哈歌手Cee-Lo Green，搖滾樂隊魔力紅（Maroon 5）的主唱Adam Levine以及鄉村歌手Blake Shelton將為美國找到下一個超贊聲音。比賽規則：海選階段教練將背對選手，憑借聲音遴選自己的隊員（相中后按鍵自己的椅子轉過來，如果多位教練都轉了過來，則由隊員選教練），經過“調教”之后，再經過各種環節一角雌雄。
